Building a Flood Wall with FIBC Bulk Bags

If you are creating a flood control wall you are likely crunched on time. You need to build a stable wall as quickly as possible!

While sandbags are a great solution for holding back floodwaters, we recommend using FIBC bulk bags filled with sand as a quicker alternative. Let us walk you through the right way to prepare the flood wall.

Step 1 – Water Barrier

First, survey the area to determine the areas you need to protect from flood damage.

Layout the plastic water barrier in the area that you want to prevent flooding. Be sure to use a high-quality water barrier to stop as much flood water as possible.

Step 2 – Filling Bulk Bags with sand

The next step is to fill the FIBC Bulk Bags with sand by using a tool like the BuckRake Bulk Bag Filling Bucket. When preparing for flooding this tool is the ultimate time-saving attachment for filling bulk bags in flood zones.

Fill the bulk bags with sand and line them up tightly on the water barrier away from the rising flood waters.

Step 3 – Wrap and staple the water barrier

The final step is to then wrap the water barrier over the filled bulk bags and tightly pin them down on the dry side of the wall with staples.

Continue to repeat this process to increase the length of the flood wall. When adding an additional wall, overlap the water barrier.
